Welcome to Mental Wellness & Health

Updated: Jan 9, 2024

Welcome to my little venture into support mental wellness and health. With so much information and misinformation in the world and online today, it can feel really overwhelming knowing where to start and what to believe.

I have spent the last 21 years working in various sectors in healthcare from international nurse recruitment, to healthcare support worker, to in-patient and community and prison nurse. I've worked all walks of life of all ages. I spent most of my healthcare career working with depression, anxiety, trauma and substance misuse. All people at some point in their life will face difficulties and struggle just to get through the day. But with right support, knowledge and information you can start to rebuild your life to reach your full potential.

I'm a big believer in using the natural world around us to improve our health just as nature intended. You can create the life you have always wanted with some good time keeping and goal setting. Of course there are days you don't want to get out of bed or off the couch, this is sometimes the answer and what's best for the soul. In a world now that is always expecting us to be happy, it has almost become unacceptable to have a bad day or feel upset or angry. But these are normal emotions and feelings and sometimes justified reactions to the world around us. However, it is really important to recognized when the upset feeling is getting out of control, when the angry feeling has crossed the line, when one too many days have been spent in bed or the couch and responsibility for one's life and actions is being left by the way-side.

My goal is to help those that have limited knowledge on mental health and what this really means. I'd like to use my skills and knowledge to properly inform the world of what good mental health is and how it is completely different to a mental health condition or illness - these are medical conditions that must be reviewed by a registered medical professional.

Focusing on mental wellness is the key to living a healthier life. Having resilience will get you through a tough day. Knowing when to take a break or step back from a situation is the best form of self-care. Having a structured day that takes care of the basic in mental wellness is the key to a healthy balanced life.
